Če upoštevamo, da odpadan biomasa po sestavi vsakič drugačna, je potrebno vedeti katere komponente so v biomasi prisotne in kakšen vpliv imajo na samo proizvodnjo biomaterialov. Rezultati raziskve so še posebej pomembni, če za proizvodnjo biomaterialov želimo uporabljati biomaso, ki ostane po proizvodnji biogoriv, saj bi tako ne samo znižali stroške proizvodnje biomaterialov, ampak z zmanjšanjem stroškov z odpadki, tudi stroške proizvodnje biogoriv. </ins></div></td></tr>

Eden od njih je uporaba nepredelanega odpadnega biološkega material za gojišča, npr. sojino melaso, odpadkov prehrambene industrije, biološki odpadki proizvodnje biogoriv. Podoben učinek je imelo tudi trajanje fermentacije, dlje kot je fermentacije potekala krajše so bile PHB verige, ki so nastajale.</ins></div></td></tr>
