[[snRNP]] ter [[scRNP]] so nov razred ribonukleoproteinskih kompleksov. Nahajajo se v jedru in [[citosolu]] evkariontski celic, kjer se nahaja veliko tipov majhnih RNA molekul, ki imajo manj kot 300 [[nukleotidov]]. Imenujemo jih [[snRNAs]] (majhna jedrna RNAs) in [[scRNAs]] (mala citosolna RNAs,). Te RNA molekule, ki so po velikosti nekje med [[tRNA]] in malo [[mRNA]] 5S, so povezane z specifičnimi proteini in ti tvorijo komplekse imenovane [[snRNPs]] (mali jedrni ribonukleoproteinski delci) in [[scRNPs]] (mali citosolni ribonukleoproteinski delci). Mali jedrni ribonukleoproteinski delci imajo zelo pomebno vlogo pri zorenju mRNA. Katalizirajo specifične reakcije pri izrezovanju [[intronov]], ki spremenijo genske prepise (heterogeno jedrno RNA) v zrelo mRNA, še preden se ta prenese iz jedra k ribosomom v citosol.
